Japan: The World's Most Reliable Market for Your Products and Service

In the early 1970s Japan experienced an extraordinary boom in shipbuilding orders that spurred the expansion of its yards and other excesses. The ensuing bust was acute and led to a large-scale decommissioning of shipbuilding capacity and a painful restructuring of the industry. Japanese shipowners also learned some hard lessons during that period.

Once bitten, twice shy, as the saying goes. Thus despite the unprecedented shipbuilding boom of recent years, Japanese yards refrained from expanding capacity and have concentrated on taking high-quality orders from reliable owners. As a result Japanese yards, and owners, are among the best placed to weather the current adverse winds that are sweeping the global shipping industry.

Sea Japan - A Biennial Maritime Marketplace

Sea Japan is the only international maritime industry tradeshow and conference held in Japan. The Sea Japan exhibition brings together buyers and sellers of marine equipment, shipbuilding technology and products and services for the shipping industry from Japan and around the world.

Held concurrently with the exhibition, the Sea Japan international conference focuses on market trends and topical issues facing the shipping industry, with key speakers from Japan and abroad sharing their views and forecasts. A full program of technical workshops, seminars and forums, as well as evening functions and networking events, make Sea Japan the most important meeting event in Japan for the nation's maritime community.

Kouji Miyahara
President
The Japanese Shipowners' Association

I would like to extend my sincere congratulations on the forthcoming international maritime exhibition SEA JAPAN 2010.
At present, the shipping industry is placed in a difficult situation by the plummeting of economic activities, both domestic and international, but safe navigation and environmental conservation are the top priority requirements for our industry irrespective of whether general economy is thriving or depressed. I hope that the forthcoming SEA JAPAN 2010 will prove to be an event contributing to the advancement of technological resources which support safe navigation and environmental conservation from underneath.

Takao Motoyama
Chairman
The Shipbuilders' Association of Japan

I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations on the scheduled holding of the international maritime exhibition SEA JAPAN 2010.
SEA JAPAN, the largest international maritime exhibitions held in Japan, will celebrate its 9th anniversary. next year. Every time in the past, the event attracted the interest of many persons in not only the maritime industries including shipping and shipbuilding but also other fields, both domestically and international, and has made significant contributions to making information on the Japanese maritime community extensively known across the world. We aim to provide the world's mercantile fleet with energy efficient ships that fully meet the operational needs of owners and operators.
I sincerely hope that the exhibits of many companies and trade associations participating in the SEA JAPAN 2010 will contribute to increasing the public awareness of Japanese shipbuilders' advanced technology and earnest efforts for further development in the future, and that common perception developed through close contact among the participants in this event will help further advancement of the maritime industries across the world.

Masamoto Tazaki
President
Japan Ship Exporters' Association

The world ship market today is faced with an unprecedented crisis, invited by the global recession ensuing from the chaotic situation of the financial market, but this situation makes it all the more important to step up our efforts to develop high performance ships and new technologies for further advancement of the shipbuilding and ship machinery industries in a long-range perspective. Given such a background, I find it truly meaningful that an opportunity is provided for discussing the future of the shipbuilding and ship machinery industries, exchanging information on the foremost in environmental conservation and energy saving technologies and looking for partners in new business ventures. SEA JAPAN 2010, which has now grown into one of the most significant maritime industry events in the world, offers an excellent opportunity for such encounters, and I expect the exhibition to prove very fruitful for all of us in the global maritime industries.

Zenshichi Akasaka
Chairman
Japan Marine Equipment Association

I would like to express my hearty congratulations on the forthcoming SEA JAPAN 2010, the ninth of the series of biannual maritime exhibitions in Japan.
This exhibition is playing the role of a showcase for the Japanese maritime industries and of a forum for the exchange of diverse ideas and information which would lead to creation of new business opportunities.
Whether Japanese or foreign, players in the same market can easily share and exchange useful information in this forum, and the possibility for good business opportunities is expanded as a result. I believe the exhibition will play a valuable role in helping trade associations, other organizations and companies enlarge their community worldwide.
Today, when the global recession is feared to adversely affect the maritime and related industries, JSMEA will endeavor for steady supply of highly reliable products to their users. To make this endeavor fruitful, the association will continue to further strengthen its ties with the users and enhance the international competitiveness of the industry's products in a global perspective. In this respect, too, the importance of the maritime exhibition where fellow traders can gather under the same roof will become even greater.
I expect that the ninth SEA JAPAN, scheduled for April 2010, will prove even more successful than the last exhibition as an occasion for active business talks, information exchange and market development.
